The benefit of using a underwrap is that it protects the skin from being in direct contact with the adhesive of the tape it is overlapped with This prevents any rubbing or irritation that can be caused by the elastic of the tape while it is applied The soft foam layer reduces friction, chafing and scraping on the skin, preventing any lasting irritation while still giving you the support of the tape.
