Product description

Basque Chicken (or Poulet Basquaise) is a traditional dish from the Pyrenees region of France, which borders Spain. Basquaise (sometimes called Piperade) is a vegetable and bread dish that originated in Soule, in the eastern part of the French Basque Country. It became a complete dinner when served with tuna from the Basque coast or chicken from the inland. To soak up the sauce, which consists of peppers, aubergine, and courgette with a tomato base, Poulet Basquaise is traditionally served with potatoes or rice. This Poulet Basquaise is made using the characteristic sweet and mild Basque chilli pepper, piment d'Espelette, at La Belle Chaurienne in Castelnaudary, in the South West of France.

60% vegetables (tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, red and green peppers, onions), 29% pre-cooked chicken (origin: EU), and a sauce made with water, cured ham, and Espelette pepper.
