WHAT IS CACAO POWDER?
Raw cacao powder is made from the ground Theobroma Cacao bean; in fact, the term cocoa is a misspelling of cacao, the Theobroma cacao tree is native to South America and South East Asia - our cacao is sourced from South America, as the quality is better than South East Asian cocoa.
The Theobroma tree produces a fruit called cacao pods and within each is up to 60 beans, it's these cacao beans that are micro-milled to produce cacao powder, as well as being consumed raw, cacao beans are also used to make a wide range of products, including of course chocolate!
